Driver in fatal crash charged with murder

ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Alabama State Troopers arrested a man Wednesday inconnection with a fatal car crash.

The crash happened Monday on Sand Valley Road, 10 miles west of Attalla. 25-year-old Brandon Christopher Roach was drivingthe vehicle that left the road and struck an embankment, killing 24-year oldJoanie Amanda Patterson of Boaz. 

A preliminary investigation indicates alcoholwas a factor in the crash. Roach was charged with murder in relation to thecrash. He was placed in the Etowah County Jail with a bond of $50,000.

Troopers are still conducting theirinvestigation.
