Decatur ice rink shifts to seasonal schedule

The new schedule will be in effect from March 10 to October 1. The new schedule will be in effect from March 10 to October 1.
DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur's ice skating rink will now run on aseasonally-adjusted schedule.

Beginning Monday, March 10, the Point Mallardice skating complex will only be open Thursdays from 5-10 p.m.; Fridays 5-9p.m.; and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The new schedule will be in effect until Oct.1.

According to park superintendent Jason Lake,officials took into consideration all users of the ice complex when setting thenew seasonal schedule.

The decision is an effort by the city toreduce costs in maintaining the facility.

    A ground search ensued that lasted about four hours and covered approximately six miles, ending a few hundred yards east of Hays Mill Road where the suspects were caught in a hunting stand/shoot house.
