No audience at dog ordinance meeting; vote next week

JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A final public meeting to discuss a proposedvicious dog ordinance met with nobody in attendance Monday night.

The meeting was thelast in a series set up by Jackson County officials to discuss the proposedordinance, which if passed, would grant sheriff's deputies greaterauthority in dealing with cases of dogs that attack community members.

Currently, animal control officers can onlyadvise victims of dog attacks to bring the matter to small-claims court.

A vote on the ordinance will be taken by theJackson County Commission on Monday, March 10.
