GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenwood police said negotiators were able to peacefully resolve a hostage situation Monday night at a home on Maplewood Court.

Captain Nick Futch said police were called to 112-A Maplewood Court in reference to a possible hostage situation.

Futch said initial reports suggested a female was being held inside the residence by a man who was possibly armed. Police later said there were a total of six people inside the home, including the suspect and a 1-month-old baby.

The SWAT team and a negotiator were called into action. Futch said the male suspect was taken into custody on outstanding warrants.

He said the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Marquis Anderson, was armed with a knife during the standoff.

Anderson was already wanted on attempted murder, possession of a firearm as well as a bench warrant for criminal domestic violence, Futch said.

In the wake of Monday night's incident, Futch said police were seeking warrants for criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Anderson appeared before a judge Tuesday where his bond was denied.
