ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Limestone County and the City of Athensannounced Monday they are trying to woo a major company to set up shop in thearea.

The county commission and city council votedunanimously to sell 50 acres in Elm Industrial Park to a plastics company basedout of Japan. The company produced polypropylene for automotive companies andis looking to expand.

"Hopefully this is a sign of good things tocome," said Tom Hill, President of the Limestone County Economic DevelopmentAssociation. "It's 50 acres that will eventually be provided with all infrastructures,including rail, to serve the company."

The county is currently in competition withother sites for the company's attention. Leaders hope Monday's vote ofconfidence will show the company they are serious about bringing their businessto the Tennessee Valley.
