Film expert predicts Hollywood boom will continue in Georgia

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

In the afterglow of Oscar night, during which a movie produced in Georgia was nominated for an award and two Georgia actors made prominent appearances, an industry expert in Atlanta says you can look for the film business to continue its rapid growth in the state.

"The infrastructure is becoming a huge factor," said Craig Miller, co-president of the Georgia Production Partnership. "I would say there's a good bit of LA envy going on right now for the work that's being done in Georgia."

He pointed to the 11 studios that have been built in Georgia since 2010, as well as others that are about to come online. Combined with the state's film tax incentive, Miller said he expects to see big-budget film productions become a regularity in Georgia in the coming years.

"It is just the tip of the iceberg that we have big productions coming to town. They're coming to town because there is infrastructure to support them. You will hear more and more about the larger productions that will come and shoot in Georgia and be Georgia-grown productions."
