Building declared unsafe after being struck by vehicle in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A north Charlotte restaurant has been declared unsafe after being struck by an SUV Monday afternoon.

The wreck happened just after 3:30 p.m. on the 700 block of Atando Avenue, near N Graham Street in northeast Charlotte.

Firefighters told WBTV that it appeared the driver of a Ford Explorer had a seizure and lost control, hit a utility pole, then struck the side of the Rainbow Grill.

The building was declared unsafe due to the damage it sustained in the wreck.

Two lanes of Atando Avenue were closed, as power lines were knocked down. Drivers should use caution and avoid the area if possible.

Officials said no one was injured in the incident.
