MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Authorities said a small child was killed in a single-vehicle wreck in Marshall County Monday afternoon.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Highway 69 and Union Grove Road, between Arab and Guntersville. Alabama State Troopers said a woman, a girl and a boy were in the vehicle when it struck a guardrail and crashed. Troopers said the boy had been thrown from the vehicle.

The child was taken to Huntsville Hospital, where State troopers said the five-year-old boy later died. He was identified as Mallex Garner of Guntersville. Troopers said the driver, 29-year-old Chastity Garner, was injured and treated at the hospital. The girl who was also in the car was reportedly uninjured.

Troopers continue to investigate the wreck.
