HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Utilities customers in Huntsville will end up paying a little more in March due to an increase in fuel costs.

The residential rate for Huntsville Utilities customers will increase by a little more than six percent. Customers will pay $0.09104for the first 1400 kWh used and $0.09918 for all usage over 1400 kWh. According to Huntsville Utilities, households that use 1400 kWh ofelectricity will pay $127.45 compared to $119.93 in February.

Huntsville Utilities said the rate increase is due to the Tennessee Valley Authority announcing that they were increasing their monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment, a variable energy rate that can vary as TVA's fuel and power costs fluctuate.
