Day six starts in Liberty County, from Walthourville to Midway

Dal Cannady continued his Red Cross walk in Liberty County Monday.

Day six started at Walthourville City hall, and Cannady hadcompany.

Members of the Senior Citizens of Walthourville joined me for thefirst seven miles.

The members volunteer around town, even tutoring students.  

Walthourville's mayor was also glad to help.

"We had a fire just last night, and a family lost everything, sothis goes to help them," said Daisy Pray, Mayor of Walthourville.

Cannady walked along US 84 and stopped for well wishes anddonations.

The biggest welcome came from First Presbyterian ChristianAcademy. The entire student body met outside for a visit.

From there, Lisette Vila of Hinesville Rotary walked the rest ofthe way with Cannady. She also introduced him to a friend who lost a home infire and needed Red Cross earlier this year.

"She said she was in need, the Red Cross supported her and gaveher lodging and meals," Wanda Delvelle said in Spanish as Vila interpreted.

Finally, the walked took them past Dorchester Academy and Midwaywhere mayor Clementine Washington welcomed with a donation.

Monday's walk totaled over16 miles. When you next see hime, Cannady will be at a fundraiser inHinesville, then Tuesday he'll be along I-16 at the Statesboro exit into town.
