WALTHOURVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

One Walthourville resident is without a home after a massive fire Sunday night.

The fire happened just before 7 p.m. in the 2400 block of Shaw Road.

Walthourville Police Lt. Wade Long spotted smoke coming from the attic area of the home.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire. However Lt. Long said he did see people running back into the home after the fire started.

"At the time there was nobody in the house then two residents, or occupants, entered the house for some unknown reason. One came out immediately, after a few minutes the second came back out of the home. It appeared to be some kind of explosion inside the home and then flames started venting through the roof and attic of the house," said Lt. Long.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
