LELAND, NC (WECT) - Investigators with the Leland Fire Department want to know more about the events leading up to a house fire Sunday night.

First responders found flames near 1400 Old Fayetteville Road that had spread from an RV to the garage, where it was parked, and to the rest of the house, according to Fire Chief John Grimes.

He said the home is damaged and the garage is a total loss.

The fire started as a cooking fire, according to investigators. It is believed to be an accident, but the cause is still under investigation.

Grimes said the man who lives in the RV arrived at the fire department complaining of chest pains from the fire. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
