Rhythm and Ribs draws thousands to Tifton

TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

Thousands of  people were in Tifton Saturday enjoying good music and barbeque. Its called "Rhythm and Ribs," and it draws competitors from all over South Georgia.

On Saturday 26 teams competed in the cook-off event. Team " Smokin 42"  won and took home 2500 dollars. Organizers say this event is great for the city of Tifton.

"It's a tremendous boost for our economy. Any time you can bring five or six thousand people out to your event they are buying all kind of stuff including gas food. We didn't have anymore rooms left in Tifton this weekend," says Tourism Coordinator Tyron Spearman.

After the cook off several bands played music throughout the evening. They also had about 25 arts and crafts exhibitors at the event.
