A Giles County TN man was arrested on domestic assault and weapons charges following a standoff Saturday night.

Giles County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic situation on Dickson Marks Road before 10 p.m. Saturday.

According to a witness, 55-year-old Jimmy Ray Young of Pulaski had physically abused a woman, broken a cell phone, and fired a rifle at least three times during the night. Young had made comments about harming himself or police if they came to the house.

Deputies on the scene activated a Special Response Team, who set up a command post outside the house. The team eventually located Young on the property and took him into custody. Deputies recovered two large-caliber rifles and a sawed-off shotgun from the scene.

Young was taken to the Giles County Jail on charges of domestic assault, vandalism, and possession of a prohibited weapon. Bond was set at $3,000. Deputies said other charges may be forthcoming.
