ATLANTA (AP) - A judge has ordered Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter to turn over her father's Bible and Nobel Peace Prize by Wednesday to be placed in a safe deposit box controlled by the court.
The civil rights icon's estate is run by his two sons, Martin Luther King III and Dexter King. The estate's lawyers on Jan. 31 asked a judge to order their sister, Bernice King, to surrender the items.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney issued the order Thursday. He had said at a Feb. 19 hearing the court would control possession of the items until the case is resolved.
McBurney ordered the estate to open a safe deposit box by Monday and to turn over all keys to the court on Wednesday once the items are inside.
