ANDERSON, AL (WAFF) -

Victims of last week's tornadoes work torepair and rebuild a week after a series of small twisters hit North Alabama.

An EF-1 tornado with winds up to 105 milesper hour touched down and caused damage to several homes in the easternLauderdale County town of Anderson.

Justin James showed us around his home offHighway 207 Thursday. He had workers there putting up a new fence to replacethe one the storm knocked down. He also showed us how the tornado tore up hisroof.

James said he feels lucky after seeing thedamage the storm inflicted on his neighbor's house. James said he was asleepwhen the storm hit. His wife woke him up and they sought shelter in a closet. He said this storm taught him an important lesson.

"Hopefully next time I won't be asleep. Iwill watch the news, that's for sure," he said.

A child and his mother were injured by thesame twister that hit James' house. In all, the National Weather Servicerecorded eight tornadoes – fivein Alabama and three in Tennessee, just north of the state line.

The biggest of those was an EF-2 that hitFort Payne.
