MADISONVILLE, La. (AP) - St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain says the body of a woman found in an open field in Madisonville is that of a missing Alabama woman.
Strain says detectives found Melinda Denny's body around 10:15 a.m. Thursday as they searched on foot just off Brewster Road, between Highways 21 and 1077.
WVUE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1cqk3eU ) the parish coroner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Denny, of Mobile, was last seen Saturday when deputies encountered the 26-year-old and her boyfriend in a parking lot on Highway 21.
Strain says Denny's family has been notified of the discovery of the body and the investigation is ongoing.
