Coroner: Alabama woman died of multiple stabs wounds

MADISONVILLE, LA (WVUE) - The body of a female discovered Thursday morning in an open field in Madisonville is that of missing Alabama woman Melinda Denny, according to St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain.

Her body was found just off Brewster Road between Highway 21 and 1077. The St. Tammany Parish Coroner said she had been stabbed multiple times.

The discovery of the body was made around 10:15am as detectives searched on foot. The St. Tammany Parish coroner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Strain said he is confident that the case will ultimately lead to the arrest of Denny's boyfriend Johnathan Nall. Strain added that Nall was being cooperative in the investigation.

Strain also said that her family has been notified of the discovery of her body

Denny was last seen early Saturday morning when deputies encountered the 26-year-old and Nall in a parking lot on Highway 21.

Later that day, deputies found Denny's boyfriend, Johnathan Nall, threatening to kill himself outside a gas station along I-12 near Madisonville.
