HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The co-defendant of a Boy Scout volunteer accused of running an international child porn ring is pleading guilty.

A federal indictment names Rick Leon along with Huntsville Boy Scout volunteer James McCullars. It says a group of men including Leon and McCullars operated various chat rooms where they discussed sexual interest in young boys and traded large amounts of child porn.

McCullars, along with being a former scout volunteer is also a former UAH employee, where he was Director of Computer and Network Services. Leon lives in Virginia, but court documents said the men were a part of a large group who traded child porn online.

Investigators said the child porn ring began sometime in 2000 and continued through April 2012. Rick Ricardo Leon, who now wants to plead guilty in the case, went by the nickname "JonJon."

Federal agents said he and McCullars, who went by the alias "DJ," traded their child porn collection and discussed their interest in young boys with other men around the country and internationally.

Court documents say access into the child porn group was only granted once the applicant submitted their own pornographic material to ensure they were not law enforcement. The federal complaint accuses McCullars of camping with and molesting minors. It says another person indicted in the ring admitted to viewing images and videos of McCullars molesting children.

It is unclear if the person who came forward about McCullars camping with and molesting children is the same person pleading guilty. In a previous report, McCullars responded to the allegations through his attorney, saying he was shocked and looks forward to his trial to show that he did nothing wrong.

The Boy Scouts of America has said the allegations do not appear to have anything to do with scouting.

McCullars' court date is May 19.
