MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A no-show in court resulted in more troublefor a woman charged with home repair fraud.

Linda Stephenson is now wanted by authoritiesfor failure to appear in court. An officer at the Morgan County Jail said shehas not been arrested yet.

Judge Shelly Waters said all the parties werepresent Tuesday – except for the accused. The attorneys for both sides and thecouple who accuse Stephenson of performing shoddy repair work without a licensewere in the courtroom, but Stephenson was not.

Stephenson's attorney requested acontinuance. Judge Waters denied the motion and issued a warrant forStephenson.

Vicki and Ted Green claim Stephenson took$6,000 up-front to do repairs at their home in Union Grove last summer. The jobwas to paint the walls and ceilings, sand and re-finish the floor, and replacedoors. The Greens allege Stephenson botched the job. She does not have ahomebuilder's license.

Morgan County authorities arrested Stephensonin January, charging her with obtaining a signature by deception. Tuesday'shearing was scheduled to be a bench trial, meaning the judge determines theverdict. She could have made Stephenson pay back the money she took from thecouple.

As authorities continue to look for LindaStephenson, the legal problems against her continue to mount.
