MERIDIANVILLE, AL (WAFF) - State troopers confirmed that two people have died in a wreck early Tuesday morning in Meridianville.

A car collided with an 18-wheeler on Highway 231/431 between Becky Drive and Meridianville Bottom Road.

Authorities said there was a dog inside of the car at the time of the wreck. The dog survived and is in the custody of animal control.

Madison County deputies diverted traffic onto Meridianville Bottom Road as emergency crews worked to clear the wreck. Both lanes of Highway 231/431 in Meridianville have since reopened.
