COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Hundreds of kids in need in our area will be provided meals thanks to a weekend event aimed at Feeding the Valley.

More than 800 people stopped by Northside High School in Columbus on Sunday March 2 for the 20th annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser. Soups were offered in bowls decorated and made by local artists.

The event raised $9,000, and 80 volunteers and staff showed up to serve.

Feeding the Valley works with Columbus Parks and Recreation and Britt David Pottery Studio to help provide meals to low income families in the Chattahoochee Valley.

The proceeds raised from the event will serve nearly 25,000 meals to children in Columbus and Phenix City.

For more information visit the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department's Facebook page.
