FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

An overnight shooting in Florence sent one man to the hospital. Authorities believe the gunman is still on the run and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Officers said they responded shortly before 2 a.m. to the 2600 block of Huntsville Road. Upon arrival, police said they found a 28-year-old man who had been shot in the stomach. Multiple bullet casings were also found at the scene.

The victim's wife said her husband was treated and released for his injuries.

Neighbors said the area is fairly quiet, with a neighborhood watch. Cindy Woods said she wasn't sure what was happening just two houses down. "We went to bed and at 1:47 this morning I looked at the clock, and that's when we heard the shots."

"We looked out the bedroom window and didn't see anything going on, but it wasn't a few seconds and the police cars drove up. We got up and locked the door," Woods said.

Police are looking for a newer model black Chevy Impala or Malibu with gray or silver trim around the windows. Investigators said the car was last seen leaving the area around the time of the shooting.
