Woman robbed of purse at gunpoint inside home

Utah Place on Richmond's North side is usually quiet, but that was disrupted early Saturday morning when an 18-year-old woman was robbed at gun point inside her home.

This was startling news to Clara Anderson-Williams.  She's lived in the neighborhood for three decades.

"It's shocking to me now that something happened.  All three blocks have been kind of calm not very disruptive--yea we have had some odds and ends like any other neighborhood but on a whole it has been very comfortable to live in," Anderson-Williams said.

Many people we tried speaking with today were tight lipped about the home invasion.  Others say they didn't notice police cars responding to the incident.

Police say the suspect wore a black ski mask and knocked on the victim's door then pointed a gun at her and took her purse.  It happened just after 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.

This troubling incident takes Clara back to a time when crime was worse and fear was all anyone living on Utah place knew.

"People were chaining down their cars, trunks and hoods and stuff," Williams said.

While the incident appears to be isolated, many in the area say they will now be on alert.  Clara says she's not worried though.  She's confident police will be on the look out.

"I don't have a time talking to Richmond Police.  If I see something, yea, I'm going to speak on it.  You have to in order to have a good neighborhood," Williams said.
