LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Two schools in Limestone County announced closures due to damage from Thursday night's storms.

Blue Springs Elementary and Clements High School are closed Friday due to snapped power lines that cut the power to the area, according to school officials.

Athens city officials said seven poles were broken on Highway 72, with a total of 17 were broken through the system.

More than 1,000 were impacted by the outage while crews worked to restore power.
