DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A man wanted in connection with a shooting in Decatur turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday.

Decatur Police said Richard Jake Mitchell, also known as "Lil Bok," was wanted for shooting another man Tuesday afternoon in the area of 2nd Avenue and Prospect Drive.

Several police cars and ambulances responded to the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

A nearby elementary school took security precautions to ensure students were safe as they left school while authorities searched for Mitchell. School resource officers at Banks-Caddell Elementary walked students out to parents' vehicles in a controlled release, according to school officials.
