ETTRICK, VA (WWBT) -

VSU Police arrested a man for carrying a gun on campus Wednesday morning.

Police were alerted to a man walking through campus with a gun visible around 11 a.m. Ten minutes later police arrested 26-year-old Kenneth Spratley, who isn't a student, for carrying a weapon on university property and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

Campus officials say they didn't send out an emergency notification or lockdown the campus because of the short amount of time involved.

Spratley was released on $3000 bond and issued a Trespass Notice barring him from the VSU Campus.
