HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville firefighters got some hands-ontraining Tuesday. They are now better prepared to handle chemical spillsinvolving tanker trucks.

Safe Transportation Training Specialistsrolled into town this week. The specialists teach three major points – safety, chemical identification, and vessel capability. Firefighters learn these pointswith a combination of classroom education and hands-on training.

"They're able to see it, feel it, touch it,put their hands on it. It's more than showing them a picture, it's more thangiving them a bunch of lectures. It's a combo of demonstrations and allowingthem to feel the models and props," said specialist David B. Wolfe.

The 16 hour course spans two days.
