GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Law enforcement is in the midst of coordinating the thousands of visitors who will arrive later this week in Guntersville for one of the largest fishing tournaments in the nation.

Preparation for the Bassmaster Classic began about a year ago. Local officials attended last year's tournament in rural Oklahoma to get an idea of what such an event would be like.

Some of the ideas used in Oklahoma will be adopted and applied to the event at Lake Guntersville. The main event will be at City Harbor Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7, when all the anglers will depart.

Due to a lack of parking, a system has been set up where several area lots will be utilized and a public shuttle system will transport people to and from the harbor.

Every law enforcement agency in the county will be assisting with the effort. Guntersville's police chief said Friday morning, without a doubt, will be the trickiest.

For those who would like to stay and shop or eat breakfast downtown before going back to their car, the shuttles will continue to operate until 11 a.m.
