A fifth grader at Hampton Cove Elementary gota big surprise Monday.
Elaine Tetrault's poster placed first in thestatewide Arbor Day poster contest. Operation Green Team surprised her with acash prize, a round-trip ticket to Montgomery to plant a tree with Alabama'sFirst Lady, Dianne Bentley at the state capitol, plus a pizza party for herclass.
"I got my idea from back when I lived inWashington DC. We had trees surrounding our house and they actually kept ourhouse cool during the summer and saved us on our energy bill," Tetrault said.
The theme for this year's contest was "Treesare Terrific and Energy-Wise." This is the 14th consecutive year that aHuntsville student has placed in the contest.
