Thousands of kids and adults poured into the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center late Thursday afternoon for the opening of the NBA All Star Jam Session, which is headquarters for all games basketball and other fun activities for people of all ages.

Having the city host the event is a boom for the local tourism industry as well.

At Walk-Ons Sports Bar and Restaurant, General Manager Adam Fleeman said they are preparing for brisk business through the weekend.

Hotels are also expected to do well over the next few days as big NBA players, their families, and big names in entertainment flock to the city.

The All Star Jam Session has a huge NBA Store with thousands of pieces of merchandise.

Michael Brady, Manager of the NBA Licensing said the public should beware of counterfeiters selling merchandise on the street.
