NEW ORLEANS , LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police said Thursday that they've cleared several armed robberies with the arrests of three suspects.

Arrested are 18-year-old Carlos Tobias, 20-year-old Joshua Summers and 20-year-old Marva Turner. All three are suspected of committing armed robberies Sunday at Marais Street and Ursulines Avenue, at Milan and Derbigny streets and in the 3500 block of Robert Street. All three hold-ups took place between 7:50 a.m. and 8:40 a.m.

Tobias and Summers are suspected in a robbery that happened Saturday at 10:10 p.m. in the 2500 block of Palmer Street. Also on Saturday, Tobias and Turner are suspected of committing an armed robbery at 10:15 p.m. at Octavia and S. Robertson streets.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, Tobias and Turner are suspected of committing an armed robbery at 7 p.m. at S. Johnson and Nashville streets and a simple robbery at 8:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of Soniat Street.

"They were targeting people who were either getting in and out of the cars or walking up to their residence," said Second District Commander Paul Noel.

Victims in the Nashville robbery included a mother and her two young sons.

"He said, 'don't make me shoot you, and give me everything,'" said the woman.

She said she was both furious and scared that the crime happened so close to her home.

"I thought, this can't be happening," she said. "I'm at home - in front of my house - I'm not even out of my car yet. What is happening right now?"

Court records show Tobias has a simple burglary charge from 2012 - that charge was refused. Turner has a simple burglary charge from 2011, and subsequently enrolled in the district attorney's diversion program. Summers had no prior criminal history.

Investigators said they don't believe Tobias, Summers and Turner are connected to five other younger suspects, ages 13 to 16, who were arrested for two robberies in the Warehouse District Sunday night. In one of those cases, a victim was grazed by a bullet after resisting the robbers and trying to run.

With eight arrests this week - and a big tourist weekend ahead - police hope the streets will be safer.
