Officials have identities two victims killed in a fatal house fire in Limestone County.

The fire happened Wednesday on Snake Road in Limestone County. Authorities said 76-year-old Josephine Lamar and her 43-year-old daughter, Tracy Shook, were upstairs when the fire broke out. Lamar and Shook were killed in the fire.

Officials said that another family member was in the basement at the time of the fire and went upstairs to try and save his relatives, but couldn't reach them.

Authorities said house became unstable due to the fire and collapsed into the basement. The State Fire Marshal's office said the collapse is slowing their work on the investigation.

Investigators said that no foul play is expected. They are looking into a heating source as a possible cause, but nothing has been ruled out at this point.

So far in 2014, 35 people have been killed in fires. Twenty-eight of those deaths happened in January, making it the deadliest month on record for fatal fires in Alabama.
