MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Welcoming business was a key theme of Mayor Troy Trulock's State of the City speech.

"In the past, Madison may not have been necessarily business friendly," Trulock said. "We're extremely business friendly today. What that allows us is when a business wants to move in, we roll out the red carpet."

Celebrating 2013, Trulock pointed to new business opening in Madison: The new Last Resort Shooting Range, Sam and Greg's Pizza opening soon, and the upcoming Matsumoto Automotive Manufacturing Facility under construction.

The Mayor also highlighted the growing number of families in subdivision housing. However, roads were still the number one issue. Parks were also an issue, labeled inadequate by consultants and expensive to expand and upgrade.

Trulock said 2014 will be a year of cautious decision making and planning on parks, and on the city's library for which there is money allocated to expand, just no plan on how to do it just yet.
