LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A judge sentenced three people in connection with a 2011 deadly stabbing in Lauderdale County.

On Friday, a judge sentenced Tiffany Nunley to 198 months behind bars. She pleaded guilty last month to manslaughter in the death of David Pennington.

Tiffany Nunley, her sister Jessica and John Junior Minton were originally charged with capital murder.

The judge sentenced Minton to 10 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution last month.

Jessica Nunley was also sentenced to 10 years after she pleaded guilty to hindering the prosecution. A judge split her sentence and got credit for time served. She walked from the Lauderdale County Detention Center on probation Friday.

"We know we got the killer and she's going to be doing 16 and a half years in prison. We know we got the two that helped her with it. You know nobody is happy with what happened, but at the end of the day, we got the best that we could under some difficult circumstances," said District Attorney Crhis Connolly.

Pennington's family was visibly upset throughout the entire process. They left the courtroom in tears, unhappy with the sentencing. Pennington's sister addressed all three suspects Thursday. She told them their actions destroyed her family and they will face another judgement - just not here.

Connolly said his office is not pleased with the outcome, saying it all came down to forensic evidence. "We always talk about solving cases forensically and this case we can solve forensically. Despite the fforts by the Sheriff's Department and the state lab to go get some DNA that would have linked the case, we just didn't have it," he said.
