HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Senator Jeff Sessions said in a statement Thursday that his office is working to help ease traffic problems at Redstone Arsenal.

The statement said Sessions' office has a commitment to add 20 new security guards, increasing the total number to 100, which they hope will ease traffic issues.

"We are going to monitor the situation closely and continue to work with Senator Shelby, Congressman Brooks and Mayor Battle to do whatever we can to ease traffic congestion surrounding the Arsenal," said the statement.

Recent changes in gate operations have led to many mornings of traffic backups and frustrated commuters.
