ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

The Athens Street Department will close a portion of Lindsay Lane on Tuesday while workers remove a culvert.

City officials said the work will take place south of Canebrake.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes. Homeowners will be able to get to their homes from the north or south end of the work site.

City officials said they received state funding to improve Lindsay Lane. The funding includes drainage upgrades, widening and paving. According to officials, the drainage work on the culvert must be completed before road paving begins.

The closure is expected to last through the night.
