Bedford mom injured in hit skip accident saves young daughter

BEDFORD, OH (WOIO) -

Bedford Police are looking for the hit and run driver responsible for seriously injuring a mother walking with her young child.

It happened on Tuesday just before 7 a.m. on Union Street near St. Mary's Church.

Police tell 19 Action News the hit, skip accident involved one vehicle which struck the woman,  who was walking with her eight-year-old child. The female pedestrian was rushed to Metro Hospital with serious injuries.

19 Action News has learned the victim is Tiara Williams, 27. Family members say she was walking her daughter to daycare. Williams managed to push her child to the curb, just before the accident.

The vehicle did not stop and left the scene southbound on Union towards the Broadway/Forbes area.  The suspect vehicle is possibly a dark gray, older model Hyundai Accent. The passenger side mirror was located at the scene of the crash. There may be additional passenger side damage to the vehicle.
