FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

A Florence man is allegedly linked with thefts across five states.

Christopher Lynn Timbes of Florence was taken into custody by Florence Police Department Detectives Thursday morning. He is accused of opening cash registers at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club in Florence, and removing the money inside.

Investigators said Timbes did the same in more than 38 stores in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Combined, Timbes is accused of stealing over $50,000 from Wal-Mart stores over the last three years.

Police agencies throughout the Southeast have additional warrants for his arrest once he is released from custody in Lauderdale County, where he is currently being held.
