By the Numbers: Winter Storm 2014

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Here are some of the numbers for Alabama's winter storm 2014 event.

5 - The number of fatalities that can be attributed to the storm.

54 - The number of injuries that can be attributed to the storm.

13 - The number of public safety and security agencies currently deployed providing four wheel drive assets and Trooper assistance.

5- The lowest temperature in Alabama for the week.

70 - The highest temperature forecast for the next week.

8 - The number of counties currently providing warming stations.

9 - The number of heavy duty wreckers being used by the Alabama National Guard to move stranded vehicles to the shoulder of the road.

14 - The number of shelters opened as of Wednesday night.

21 - Number of years since state's worst winter storm, the Blizzard of 1993.

300 - The number of people being provided for by the 14 shelters.

1,000 - The number of free Chick-fil-A sandwiches a Birmingham restaurant owner handed out to stranded motorists stuck in their vehicles [Story]

2,142 - The peak number of state employees and Alabama National Guard members mobilized.

11,000 - Approximate peak number of Alabama public school students who slept at school because they couldn't get home Tuesday. The number dropped to 1,600 by Wednesday and all have since been transported home.

12,200 - The number of Alabama Power customers without power statewide Thursday afternoon.

300,000 - The pounds of sand dumped on city roads just in Montgomery. That's 150 tons.

2 - The current activation level at the Alabama Emergency Operations Center.
