Could a winter disaster happen in Huntsville?

Good Wednesday evening and Happy Hump Day!

We're continuing to dig deeper into the weather problems that have affected our neighbors in Birmingham and Atlanta. Traffic jams, snarled traffic, lost power. The question WAFF 48's Shumuriel Ratliff is exploring tonight is "could this happen here in Huntsville?" Shumuriel spoke with city leaders to find out if we're ready for an event of this magnitude.

With the cold snap we've experienced for the past several weeks, propane gas is in short supply across the country. It's used as a heat source for chicken farmers, as well as homes and businesses. And WAFF 48's Sarah Navoy is asking tough questions of a propane company that has a branch in Cullman that customers are saying is not honoring their contracts due to the shortage.

Speaking of propane, there is an alternative. I had the chance to visit a Huntsville company that claims it's the better alternative with regards to heating chicken houses and homes as well. More from a spokesman with Lee Energy Solutions on wood pellets being used with a generator to heat homes and chicken houses, as company officials say,  more effectively, cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

We hope you'll join us for a busy night on WAFF 48 News at 10.
