HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

"Who needs propane?" That's what one North Alabama company says when it comes to heating chicken houses.

Lee Energy Solutions in Huntsville has spent the past five years developing and improving a system that uses wood pellets dumped into a furnace to generate heat for chicken houses all over the country. They feel their product is superior to propane in every way.

Steven Jackson with Lee Energy Solutions said the idea has been around for a long time. "What people have seen in the past is people building one in their garage. What we're seeing now is the farmer saying, ‘I can't believe this technology is here, that it exists, that it works and that it saves money.' We literally can't answer the phone calls fast enough now that propane prices are high," he said.

The same technology can also be used to treat homes and businesses.
