MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

Police arrested a juvenile in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins in Madison, according to investigators.

Officers responded to the Waverly Place Apartments on Old Madison Pike on Jan. 27 after managers told them that electronics and clothing had been found in a vacant apartment. Police arrested a 17-year-old trying to enter the apartment later that evening.

The juvenile was charged with 17 counts of breaking and entering a vehicle, 10 counts of theft of property and one count of first-degree theft of property.

According to authorities, the items had been stolen from victims at Waverly Place, the Windstone subdivision and the Woodland Hills subdivision. Police said all of the vehicles involved were unlocked at the time of the crimes.

The juvenile was taken to the Robert Neaves-Davis Center for Juveniles.

Authorities are reminding citizens to lock their vehicles and remove any valuable items from inside.
