LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Officials with Lauderdale County Schools are meeting with parents this week to discuss the rollout of a new technology initiative.

Starting Feb. 3, all eighth graders across the state will be issued a Google Chromebook, a lightweight computer, to integrate more technology into the school system.

Parent meetings will be held all week to allow them the chance to learn more about the initiative, called STEP (Student Technology Engagement Plan).

Monday, parents were able to attend an informative meeting at Brooks High School. Additional meetings will be held Tuesday at Lauderdale County High School at 6 p.m.; Thursday at Waterloo at 5 p.m.; and Thursday at Central at 7 p.m.
