HARTSELLE, AL (WAFF) -

An overnight fire in Hartselle destroyed a community business and family home.

Firefighters got the call just after midnight on Monday. Upon arrival, they could see smoke billowing from the top of Superior Computer Technologies, located on Main Street.

Hartselle and Somerville firefighters responded to the scene. Firefighters were able to keep most of the flames contained to the attic, but the fire still ended up destroying the entire roof, as well as most of the business materials that were stored in that attic. The fire chief said that some of the materials may be salvageable, but the home is a total loss.

Fire investigators will get inside of the building later on Monday and see if they can determine what started the fire.

The owner of the business said it was much more than just a building.

For the last two years, the building was the home of Superior Computer Technologies, but before that, it was the home that the owner grew up in. He said it's been in his family for over fifty years, so this loss is even harder to handle.

A portion of Main Street was closed for a couple of hours overnight, but everything is back open now.
