Decatur police: Burglary suspect hid in victim's apartment

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur police have arrested a man in connection with a Saturday burglary.

Officers arrested Orlando Lagunas-Marquez, 27, who was charged with burglary in the first degree.

The victim told police that she had arrived at her home on 8th Street in Decatur early Saturday morning after work. While in her apartment, the victim said she was attacked by a man carrying a knife, who demanded money. According to police, the man, now identified as Lagunas, had been hiding inside her apartment, waiting for her to come home from work.

According to the victim, Lagunas bound her, took her money and fled the apartment. The victim said she then went to another apartment for help.

Decatur police were notified around 6:40 a.m. Lagunas, a neighbor of the victim, was developed as a suspect and subsequently charged with burglary.

Lagunas's bond has not been set yet. He remains in Decatur City Jail.
