MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of tools from a Montgomery charity, but thanks to the generosity of the community, the organization is back to work.

Mike Bunce is the executive director of the non-profit Christian Ministry House to House.

Thieves hit the warehouse in the Washington Park neighborhood where the organization keeps its supplies and tools not once but three times this week. He says $4,000 worth of tools and a pressure washer were stolen.

Bunce says as word spread in the community about the stolen tools, donations started pouring in. He said Home Depot has also reached out and plans to donate.

For the past three years, the ministry has been building and renovating dilapidated homes and cultivating relationships in the Washington Park neighborhood. Residents can apply for the homes and rent-to-own them for an affordable price.

So far, volunteers have renovated 16 homes and are currently working on the first new construction.

Bunce says thieves won't stop the outreach or the continued impact on the Washington Park area.
