Winter weather cancels flights at Charleston International airport

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Several arriving and departing flights at Charleston International Airport have been canceled Wednesday morning as a winter chill blasts northern United States.

According to Charleston International Airport's website, the cancellations are affecting a number of major airports, including those in Washington, DC, New York, Boston, and New Jersey. 

Charleston International Airport is not the only airport being affected by winter weather. Over 1,400 flights have already been canceled Wednesday morning nationwide.

    Since September, employees have been given three options:  Get the flu shot, get an approved religious or medical exemption, or leave Essentia. At least 50 people have lost their jobs thus far.
