MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

If you've written a bad check in Madison County, there may be a warrant out for your arrest.

The Worthless Check Unit of the Madison County District Attorney's Office started its bad check round-up Tuesday.

Investigators are giving people who have unpaid checks a chance to make good on their debt by offering an amnesty period, after which, investigators will arrest anyone with outstanding warrants.

"For those of you who have worthless checks out in the community and have warrants against you, this is your only opportunity to come in and make this right," said Chief Investigator Kevin Turner.

The amnesty period runs from Feb. 1 to March 1.
