2 Lauderdale Co. murder suspects enter guilty pleas

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Two of the three people accused of playing a role in a Lauderdale County murder entered guilty pleas Tuesday.

Tiffany Nunley, along with her sister Jessica and John Junior Minton spent Tuesday morning inside the Lauderdale County Courthouse. They are all charged with capital murder.

Each is accused of playing a role in the 2011 stabbing death of wheelchair-bound David Pennington.

Minton pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution. Tiffany Nunley pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Jessica Nunley's attorneys said they rejected the deal due to a technicality. They wanted certain language to be charged in the deal. Her case will now be heard at a later date.

Minton told the court he drove the sisters over to the house and waited in the car with Jessica while Tiffany went inside. He said Tiffany then ran out of the house with blood on her and someone told him to go. Authorities said Minton helped to hide Tiffany from them and helped to hide key evidence in the case.

David Pennington's family looked on as Minton entered his guilty plea. One family member said it's still painful to talk about the crime, saying no one deserves to die the way David did.

Minton is set for sentencing on his plea agreement on Feb. 7.
